Since the discovery of first heavy-fermion superconductivity in CeCu2Si2, there are some compounds which show superconductivity around the magnetic quantum critical point (QCP). Many experiments have indicated that the superconductivity in such heavy-fermion compounds is mediated by magnetic correlation induced around QCP.
However, recently, two superconducting phases are suggested in CeRh1-xIrxIn5. One dome (SC1) is induced around antiferromagnetic QCP, on the other hand, another superconducting dome (SC2) is found in CeIrIn5 (x=1) far from QCP under pressure.
In this Letter, I will present the In-NQR (nuclear-quadrupole-resonance) study of CeIrIn5 under pressure which evidences the existence of another mechanism to increase Tc except for magnetic correlations in heavy-fermion systems. The superconducting transition temperature Tc=0.4 K for CeIrIn5 increases up to Tc=0.8 K at P=2.1 GPa. Notably, it is shown that the SC2 under pressure in CeIrIn5 is realized in the heavy Fermi-liquid state without spin correlations.
I will present experimental evidence for the novel superconductivity in CeIrIn5 under pressure and discuss two mechanisms to increase Tc in this compound.
