Vanadium dioxide(VO2) ,which is known as a correlated electron material, undergoes metal-insulator transition(MIT) at near room temperature. The MIT can be controlled by various external forces. Strain is one of the important parameters to control it, typically using lattice mismatch between films and substrates. There have been no previous cases of MIT modulation through strain effect induced by electric control. If strength of strain is electrically controllable, it is expected for various applications, such as ultra-high sensitive IR sensor, memory devices, etc.. In this presentation, I will explain the relationship between strain effect and conductive properties and the device design.
