My research topic is on microsphere resonators. I introduce an article about fiber-coupled microsphere lasers. The authors demonstrated low threshold laser oscillation while the laser remaining single mode. Unlike a general optical resonator, a microsphere resonator forms whispering gallery modes. In my presentation, I explain the general propaties of microsphere resonators and whispering gallery modes, and then the characteristics of their microsphere laser.
私は、マイクロ球共振器について研究している。今回はその用途として、テーパーファイバーとの結合によるレーザーに関する論文を紹介する。本論文ではシングルモードの低閾値レーザー発振を実現した。マイクロ球共振器では一般的な光共振器とは異なり、ウィスパリングギャラリーモードというものを形成する。発表では、マイクロ球共振器とウィスパリングギャラリーモードについて説明したのちに、本論文で得られたレーザーの性質を紹介する。
