Vanadium dioxide (VO2), which is a typical correlated electron material, shows metal-insulator transition as temperature changes. The metallic and insulating domains often coexist randomly around the transition temperature (phase separation). The tapered fiber have been a very powerful tool for sensing owing to the intense evanescent field in the vicinity of the thin tapered fiber. In my study, I will try to sense phase separated VO2 using tapered fibers.
