Single-molecule junctions consist of single molecule connected with two metal electrodes. In recent years, progress of experimental methods to make single-molecule junctions enabled researchers to explore charge transport characteristics of single-molecule junctions and various functions, e. g., molecular diodes[1], field effect transistor[2], magnetoresistance effect[3], and spin valve devices[4], have been reported.
Recently single-molecule junctions are attracted attention as a device structure to realize high efficient thermoelectric conversion [5] because low thermal conductivity, high electrical conductivity and large Seebeck coefficient can be realized at the same time[6]. However, thermal conductivity of single-molecule junctions that is necessary to discuss the thermoelectric efficiency has not been measured by experiments.
In this work, I fabricated microscale thermometers for thermal conductivity measurement of single-molecule junctions and evaluated their accuracy.
