Some catalytic olefinations of carbonyl compounds were reported. One of them is chromium-catalyzed (E)-selective transformation of aldehydes to the corresponding vinyl halogen compounds using haloalkane CHX3(X = Br、I)as a coupling partner and metal as a reductant. Herein, in order to improve this reactoin in terms of environmental harmony, that is, to decrease wastes derived from metal salts, I examined whether this reaction proceeds also by using organosilicon compound as a reductant which gives only organic compounds as sideproducts.
