- Title
- Magnetic trap of superconducting particles at cryogenic temperature
- Abstract
-
Superconductivity is a phenomenon in which the electrical resistivity suddenly drops to zero when a metal or compound is cooled to a low temperature. In previous studies, it is suggested that the properties of superconductivity may change in nano/micro particles compared to bulk. In general, whether or not a substance is changed to a superconductor is determined by measuring electrical resistance and magnetization. However, these methods are difficult to micro/nanoparticles. Here, we propose the magnetic trap method. We fabricated superconducting particles by laser ablation, and trapped them using a quadrupole magnetic field owning to the diamagnetism. We estimated their critical temperatures of superconductivity by identifying the escape moment of the particles from the magnetic trap.

-
